What is the Blackwatch Feed Program?

The Blackwatch Feed Programs is a "system" of Wellness that has been used by breeders and owners for the past 30 years with great success.

It is based in feeding a Holistic Pet Food, with a raw component, and 4 daily supplements that I call the CORE 4. These nutritional supplements literally fill in the holes of your pet's diet, and provide the living enzymes which are missing in all commercial pet foods.

I will also provide info in this article on how you can can incorporate the CORE 4 philosophy into your pet's diet as well as your own human daily routine.

Why are the CORE 4 supplements important? Because they take the load off the pancreas and help to prevent diabetes and prolong health and your life. Our pancreas is all born with only a certain amount of digestive enzymes and the more processed our food is, (dead foods) the sooner we wear out our pancreas, age quicker and develope disease. A good example of this is the abundance of diabetes in pets and humans in this country. Processed food lacking important dietary enzymes are at the core of this problem.

So the CORE 4 Program assists the body by providing important dietary and digestive enzymes back in the diet, which takes wear and tear off the body, that in turn will slow the deterioration of the body, provide a longer life span with less disease for you and your pet!

The reality is, there is no 100% complete dog/cat commercial food on the market, there are only minimum AAFCO standards for nutrients. The science of animal nutrition is a relatively new, and we know the minimum requirements needed in order to sustain life, but not necessarily what is needed to flourish and be the picture of health with greater longevity.

Therefore there are healthy living components, or "functional foods" that we can add to our pet's diet, and ours, that will enhance their nutrition, and not disrupt the balance of the calcium and phosphorus ratios, and protect them at a cellular level.

Dealing with large and giant breeds for almost 40 years years, I have come to realize through my own research and feed trials, that the large/giant breeds have special nutritional needs. This lead to the development of my CORE 4 approach to feeding. Regardless the "method" of feeding; kibble, homemade, grain free, dehydrated or raw, they each have nutritional gaps that need to be addressed and that is what the CORE 4 Supplement Kits do.

BASIC CONTENTS OF THE CORE 4 KIT:

The CORE 4 Kits is fed on a daily basis - these supplements represent a
"life long" program. The kits last 2 months for large/giants, 3/4 months for medium breeds and for toy breeds several month.

PROBIOTICS - a blend of 6 beneficial bacteria plus 2 that are micro-encapsulated so they release in the lower digestive tract and not be killed off by stomach acid. They break down further in the intestines to help resolve difficult digestive issues. Research shows us 70% of the Immune System is in the gut. There is an old saying "death begins in the colon"...so a healthy gut is the basis of all wellness. Probiotics or DFM's (Direct Fed Microbials) are known to protect the lining of the gut, helping to protect the mucus lining and prevent Leaky Gut Syndrome and systemic yeast overgrowth in the digestive tract.

DIGESTIVE ENZYMES - Digestive enzymes are often found in a combination probiotic product. There are many enzymes that help to break down the food for better digestion. The 4 that are of most importance are amylase (carbohydrates such as potato and grains) protease (protein), lipase (fats) and cellulase for fiber. Multiple digestive enzyme blends are beneficial in the destruction of fungi in the gut (protease and cellulase). The are critical in getting the most nutrition out of the foods you are feeding; kibble, raw, dehydrated, homemade, grain free, and they help take the load of the pancreas, which helps preserve the body and can help prevent diabetes.

DIETARY ENZYMES - these enzymes are critical for their anti-aging properties. They come from a variety of sprouted foods (barley, wheat, soy, corn) and have the most living enzymatic activity of any food. Using dietary enzymes put the "living component" back into a processed dog food, dehydrated and raw that has been stored and homemade cooked foods. Dietary enzymes have strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties and they detoxify the body at a cellular level, which speeds any healing and repair. THESE ARE CRITICAL TO HELP PREVENT VACCINE REACTIONS so common in Great Danes, and especially any dogs carrying the merle gene.

OXYGENATER - is a liquid concentrate that helps to keep a healthy the pH in the gut, so pathogenic bacteria and fungus such as Candida Albicans (yeast overgrowth) does not over growth and make the dogs prone to bloat and systemic yeast infections. These drops come in a concentrated form and have many internal and topical uses when diluted.

How To Incorporate the Core 4 Kits Into Your Pets Diet

When you start to use one of the Blackwatch CORE 4 Supplement Kits in your pet's daily feeding routine, please add each supplement 2-3 days apart until your pet is used to everything, then you can use them all together daily.

Start with:

1) The Probiotic/Digestive Enzyme product - 2 days later add:
2) Liquid Oxygenator - (diluted in a little water) and a few drops in the drinking water -see bottle for dosage. - 2 days later add:
3) Dietary enzymes in a tablet or granules form - the bottle says they should be fed before a meal and double dose. Neither is necessary. They can be feed on the food and I do not recommend double dosing because they dog cleanses out too fast and get's loose stools.

Any other supplements you use can be used with these as well example : joint support products or heart support supplements - they are all compatible and are not an issue with medicines either. Instructions comes with each kit.
